Six drug dealers who supplied up to £5,022,000 worth of high quality drugs have been jailed for a combined 87 years after their encrypted drug deal chats were cracked by police. Tarian, the regional organised crime unit for southern Wales, along with Gwent Police welcomed the sentencing of the men at Newport Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 13 December), following a joint investigation named Operation Arcturus, involving the use of the ‘Encrochat’ secure mobile device platform. Residents of a new council housing development in the north of the city are settling into their super energy-efficient, low carbon new homes in time for Christmas. The council has taken handover of 12 two-bed homes on the new Aspect Place development in Heath – part of the Council’s Cardiff Living scheme with national developer Wates Residential, that is delivering 1,500 new homes in the city. Cardiff Council has a new vehicle operating in its winter maintenance fleet helping to keep the city’s strategic cycle network safe to use during the cold snap. The Multihog vehicle sprays a brine solution across the cycleways and is being used during the current cold weather to ensure that segregated cycleways in the city are safe for cyclists to use. Pembrokeshire County Council has now completed the purchase of the assets of Edwards Bros Coaches of Tiers Cross and will be operating all contracts previously run by the company. Council officers across the Authority, led by the public transport team, have undertaken a huge piece of due diligence, checking aspects such as legal, property, finance and human resources matters to reach this point. A public consultation is now underway on updating the current Local Flood Risk Management Strategy – and residents are invited to share their views to help influence how flood risk is managed over the next six years. MonLife, which runs Monmouthshire County Council’s heritage service MonHeritage, has secured two funding awards totalling over £415,000 from Welsh Government and The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The award will enable MonHeritage to work closely with communities in Monmouthshire, over the next two years, to ensure everyone’s stories are told in the county’s museums.
