A 28-year-old man has today been jailed after violently raping and assaulting a woman. Reece Wynne, of Greenbank Lane, Soughton, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday, 16 September, after admitting to offences of rape and assault causing physical harm. Wynne attacked and raped the woman at a holiday lodge in Caerwys. He also failed to comply with sex offender notification requirements he had previously been made subject of in 2017. Essential maintenance and resurfacing works are due to take place on the M4 Coryton North and South footbridges later this month, with a series of road closures planned to support the project. The programme, which runs from 29 September 2025 until 19 January 2026, will see bridge deck refurbishment schemes carried out on both structures. IRONMAN Wales returns to Pembrokeshire on Sunday and there will be full and partial road closures around the south of the County. Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has this week (17 September) unanimously approved the reintroduction of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to block unauthorised vehicle access to the Cefn Brithdir area of the Gelligaer and Merthyr Common for the next three years, in a major step to combat fly-tipping and protect the local environment. Active enforcement of a new road safety scheme on the A4059 in the Cynon Valley is set to begin from Wednesday, October 1. The average speed camera system, installed between Abercynon Roundabout and Cwmbach, will now enforce the recently introduced lower speed limits. Drivers exceeding the limits will be dealt with under GoSafe’s standard practices. A multi-agency operation arranged and led by Neath Port Talbot Council’s Trading Standards Team has led to the seizure of hundreds of cigarettes, tobacco, illegal vapes, toys and two vehicles. Officers from the council’s Trading Standards and Waste Enforcement Teams working with South Wales Police carried out a series of raids following the receipt of intelligence received about the sale of illegal vapes and illicit tobacco and the disposal of associated business waste.
