A new, vital support group to help reduce loneliness and isolation among people living with sight loss across Wales have been set up by a leading national charity. The telephone support groups, run by the Macular Society, meet by phone every week as a dial-in service, for people unable to attend face-to-face support groups which are operated in towns and cities across the country. Works to reopen the Menai Suspension Bridge to a limited weight restriction of 7.5 tonnes are set to be completed on schedule. The emergency works, which began on 5 January, will be completed in the 4-week timeframe with the bridge expected to reopen to restricted loads by midnight (00:01hrs) on Thursday 2 February. A phone app that puts GPs in touch with hospital consultants for expert advice is also being used by dentists in Swansea Bay in a UK first. After being used successfully by GPs, Consultant Connect has now been adopted by dentists in both general dental services (GDS) and community dental services (CDS) in Swansea Bay.
