Reform UK has won its first seat on Cardiff Council, comfortably gaining the Trowbridge ward in a by-election held on 18 September 2025. The seat became vacant after former Labour councillor Chris Lay resigned, having moved to Telford, Shropshire for work. Edward Topham stood for Reform UK and secured 1,142 votes, about 40 per cent of the vote, enough to take the seat. Liberal Democrat candidate Chris Cogger came second with 681 votes (24 per cent), followed by Labour’s Gary Bowen-Thomson with 615 votes (21 per cent). Welsh 3D printing firm Lunia 3D celebrates five years in business with major investment in cutting-edge technology, positioning the Cardiff-based company for its next phase of expansion. South Wales developer Llanmoor Homes has unveiled exciting plans for one of its largest housing developments, which will bring up to 850 new homes and a school to Bridgend. Llanmoor plans to build up to 850 properties on approximately 90 acres of land on the western edge of the town, between Bryntirion and Laleston. The Parc Llangewydd development will include a new primary school as well as large areas of public open space, a multi-use games area and areas with play equipment. Kellanova has installed the UK’s largest weathervane at its cereal factory in Wrexham, North Wales, featuring the nation’s best-loved breakfast mascot – Cornelius the Cockerel. Cornelius, who has been a familiar face on Kellogg’s Corn Flakes boxes since 1958, was earlier this year transformed into a 21ft-tall weathervane.
