Wales is set for an unsettled spell of weather this weekend, with the Met Office warning of heavy rain and strong winds that could bring disruption to parts of the country. A man from Swansea has been jailed after pleading guilty to being involved in the supply of Class A drugs. 33-year-old Ricky O’Connor, from Mayhill, was subject of a warrant at his home address on August 13. Following officers’ entry into the property, O’Connor made admissions to having possession of a quantity of cocaine at the address, as well as two mobile phones used in order to deal the illegal substance. Over £2,250 in cash was also seized. O’Connor pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession of an offensive weapon (an extendable baton) in a private place,…

Swansea Council has written to Cwmfelin Social Club following flooding issues in Cwmbwrla. The council has today written to the club asking for details of works recently carried out to repair a sinkhole in their car park which opened up two years ago following the collapse of a private culvert located underneath the club. A major flood recently occurred near to where the repairs were completed. The flooding during the previous weekend affected a number of residential and business properties in the area and led major traffic issues in and around the Cwmbwrla roundabout which became submerged beneath flood waters.…

The Visitor Levy Bill has received Royal Assent from His Majesty The King. The new law gives Welsh councils the choice to introduce a small charge on overnight stays, with all funds reinvested locally to support tourism. Councils will decide how money raised can be used for tourism-related expenses – such as improving toilets, footpaths, beaches, visitor centres and activities. The Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) will collect and manage the levy for councils.
