Dafen-based Llanelli Motor Company have broken ground on a new development that will see their forecourt double in size over the coming months. Researchers at the University of South Wales (USW) who are part of a £2.5m consortium exploring the impact of the pandemic on BAME communities have shown some of their documentary films at an event in Westminster. Co-POWer, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) via the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), is a group of female professors from nine UK universities. Thrive Women’s Aid has won a £500,000 bid to The National Lottery Community Fund to improve victim experience and confidence in Neath Port Talbot in partnership with South Wales Police. The funds which were awarded through the National Lottery’s People and Places programme will help to coordinate a new domestic abuse intervention project within the Neath Port Talbot area called RAPID; aiming to tackle domestic abuse, and to improve victim safety and experience. Two Monmouth students have been recognised with a global honour in the memory and legacy of Diana, Princess of Wales. Teenagers Holly and Emily Walker have been given one the of the highest accolades a young person can achieve in the UK for social action or humanitarian efforts – The Diana Award. A new 52,582 sq ft manufacturing unit is to be built by Welsh Government at the Rhyd y Blew industrial site at Ebbw Vale in the latest step in a programme to develop the remaining 30 acres available on the site. Thousands of runners ensured the second instalment of the Healthspan Porthcawl 10K was well worth the wait as the race returned to the seaside resort after a three-year hiatus. The event returned with 4,500 entrants across the main 10K race and junior events as runners flooded the Esplanade.
