With help from Cantref Primary School’s eco club, Abergavenny’s Bailey Park now has five brand new English Oak trees and five Copper Beech trees, which have been dedicated to Her Majesty the Queen for the Platinum Jubilee under the Queen’s Green Canopy project. After inspections of Bailey Park’s green infrastructure, a number of the trees in the park had to be removed for safety reasons. To compensate for the loss, 21 trees have been planted this year. The Welsh Government is calling on people across the country to join a national consultation that will shape its strategy to make Wales smoke-free by 2030. Tackling health inequalities and increasing support to help people quit are key to the Welsh Government’s ambitions to see Wales become smoke-free within the decade. Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid has revealed the impact of rising costs on businesses in Wales following the British Chamber of Commerce’s (BCC) latest UK growth forecast. The BCC has downgraded its expectations for UK economic growth in 2022 to 3.6%, less than half the growth of 7.5% recorded last year. The store now offers 37 extra hours of Post Office services a week for the convenience of customers. A renowned artist from Rhondda is working with teenagers from a South Wales college to support their artistic dreams and help them develop a series of public artworks celebrating Wales and its culture. A fast-growing Flintshire amateur boxing club is launching new weekend training and coaching sessions for young people thanks to cash seized from criminals. Buckley Boxing Club was founded more than 100 years ago and has produced its fair share of champions and Welsh internationals but it is showing no signs of flagging.
