A major road resurfacing scheme is set to be completed at one of Swansea’s main motorway junctions. Swansea Council’s highways maintenance teams will be working overnight for the next week to resurface the main roundabout at junction 44 (Birchgrove) of the M4 – Peniel Green Road. The improvements will also include resurfacing of a nearby smaller roundabout on the B4625 – which provides access onto the westbound section of the M4. Both sections of road are being upgraded as part of the Council’s ongoing resurfacing programme which aims to complete full resurfacing schemes at locations identified as being in poor…

A group of young people from Haverfordwest High School are celebrating a major achievement after being named Wales Country final winners at the King’s Trust Awards 2026. The group will now go on to represent Wales at the King’s Trust National Awards in London, after securing the JD Foundation Community Impact Award. The award recognises an outstanding community project created through the King’s Trust Achieve Programme, which is offered at Haverfordwest High School as a KS4 GCSE option. From today [Monday, February 2] ‘baby bundles’- a gift of essential supplies – will begin to be delivered to expectant families in Flying Start areas of Wales. Mum-to-be Mollie Young from Newport will be the first to receive a bundle which will be hand-delivered this morning [Monday, February 2] by Dawn Bowden, the Minister for Children and Social Care. The baby bundles, funded by the Welsh Government, contain essential items to support new parents and their babies. The Vale of Glamorgan Council is recommending that the Aqua Park does not return to Cosmeston Country Park this summer. Instead, all opportunities for the park will be explored and a year of environmental assessment carried out. This will help inform decisions about future uses of the lake and wider park. There will be no new water activities at Cosmeston during this 12-month period.
