A man who repeatedly stabbed another male during a violent assault in Rhyl has been jailed. Appearing at Mold Crown Court this week, 48-year-old Steven Marcus Boyd, of Pleasant View Caravan Park, Abbey Road, Rhuddlan, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife. The incident occurred on South Kinmel Street, Rhyl on 6 November 2024. Swansea Council’s planning committee has approved an application for plans by the Ospreys to transform the St Helen’s ground into their new home. The plans include a capacity of more than 8,000, a new all-weather pitch, new stands, relocation of the south stand to the west end of the ground, and refurbishment of the north terrace with a roof. Following a recent monitoring visit by Estyn, Risca Community Comprehensive School has been formally removed from the ‘Special Measures’ category. Inspectors determined that the school has made significant and sustained progress in addressing all of the recommendations previously identified. Record numbers of people are taking up Welsh lessons in the Wrexham area, with 640 people having completed a course in 2023-24. This is up 82% since 2017-18. One of these Welsh learners is Wrexham University worker Jonathan Lloyd. The Welsh Government has allocated an additional £17m to help local authorities deliver regeneration projects that will transform town and city centres across Wales.
