A leading food supply company is ahead of the curve after recruiting 15 drivers as a nationwide shortage made worse by the ‘pingdemic’ hits UK deliveries of fresh food. Detectives investigating an assault which has left the victim in a life-threatening condition in hospital have this evening charged two men with attempted murder. Jason Edwards, 25, and Lee William Strickland, 36, both from Cardiff, have been remanded in custody to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday (July 26), following the assault at Bute Park in the early hours of Tuesday, July 20. HM Coastguard’s first operational drone flight will join manned helicopters, planes, boats and cliff rescue teams on lifesaving missions at sea and over land in North Wales for the first time, this summer. The drone, initially trialled a year ago during the first easing of pandemic restrictions, will fly from the HM Coastguard helicopter base at Caernarfon, and will also participate in a series of major training exercises with other 999 teams. A team of 16 staff members from Chepstow School took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Marie Curie, raising over £1,200 for the cause. The group signed up to the challenge after a number of staff members lost loved ones to terminal illness, knowing the impact the charity has on those affected. The 16 strong team took on 24 miles of the Yorkshire Dales, starting and finishing on Saturday 27th June. A police boss has blasted the “deplorable” decision to freeze officers’ pay after they had gone above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic. North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin said the bitterly opposed announcement by Home Secretary Priti Patel stank of rank hypocrisy.
