An accelerator programme designed to champion diversity across the Welsh business start-up landscape has announced the winners of its inaugural awards. The Excelerator Programme has seen 23 entrepreneurs that are young, female, disabled or from a black and minority ethnic background participate in a Welsh Government-funded 12-week immersive accelerator programme. The programme was launched to support groups that have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19, to help budding entrepreneurs launch and grow their business idea or scale an existing business. Siwan, 37, joins the Accelerated Growth Programme (AGP) from the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator, where she was responsible for supporting businesses across Wales to start, scale and succeed. Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC has unveiled its new 60-seater stand as the club sets its sights on joining the top tier of Welsh domestic football – the JD Cymru Premier League. ASSAULTS on emergency workers in Wales are on the rise, new data has revealed. More than 4,240 assaults were committed against emergency workers, including police, fire and ambulance crews, in the period April 2019 – November 2020, representing a monthly average increase from 202 in 2019 to 222 in 2020, or 10%. Assaults ranged from kicking, punching and head-butting, to spitting, slapping, biting and verbal abuse. A Vale of Clwyd football club is looking forward to brighter days and nights after a project to install new floodlights began. Ruthin Town FC is to illuminate its training pitch as well as its first team pitch, with spectators set to enjoy matches under the lights as soon as restrictions allow the return of crowds. Welsh charity Adferiad Recovery has announced Welsh actor Michael Sheen as its Patron. In his role Michael will champion the Charity’s cause and highlight its vital work across Wales.
