Street Food Cinema, the drive-in movie experience with some of Wales’ best-loved street food traders, is heading out on tour this week. Taking in Abertillery and Merthyr over the next two weekends the cinema will be showing family movies like Trolls World Tour, Sing and Moana, musical favourites like Dirty Dancing, Grease and the Greatest Showman, and nostalgic classics like Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and The Lost Boys. HM Coastguard’s first operational drone flight will join manned helicopters, planes, boats and cliff rescue teams on lifesaving missions at sea and over land in North Wales for the first time, this summer. The drone, initially trialled a year ago during the first easing of pandemic restrictions, will fly from the HM Coastguard helicopter base at Caernarfon, and will also participate in a series of major training exercises with other 999 teams. Ideas are welcomed from groups and organisations based within fisheries communities and which are involved in the social, economic and environmental well-being of the Cardigan Bay coast and inland waters from St Dogmaels to Barmouth. A team of 16 staff members from Chepstow School took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Marie Curie, raising over £1,200 for the cause. The group signed up to the challenge after a number of staff members lost loved ones to terminal illness, knowing the impact the charity has on those affected. The 16 strong team took on 24 miles of the Yorkshire Dales, starting and finishing on Saturday 27th June. A police boss has blasted the “deplorable” decision to freeze officers’ pay after they had gone above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic. North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin said the bitterly opposed announcement by Home Secretary Priti Patel stank of rank hypocrisy. RCT Council will soon start work to deliver essential traffic light upgrades at the A4119’s junction with Talbot Road – having completed similar work to the two nearby accesses to Talbot Green Retail Park in previous years. A high school in Cardiff is creating a memorial garden to help their school community remember lost loved ones while supporting City Hospice’s Forever Flowers campaign. Mary Immaculate High School in the west of Cardiff has purchased a number of Forever Flowers to feature in the central display of a garden of remembrance within the school grounds.
