Cardiff is set for another busy weekend as Wales take on Japan at Principality Stadium this Saturday. With large crowds expected, the city centre will see extensive road closures and extra travel measures, so anyone heading in is being urged to plan ahead and give themselves plenty of time. Traffic on the M4 is likely to be heavy throughout the afternoon ahead of kick off at 5:40pm. Rush hour drivers are facing major delays on the M4 this evening after flooding forced the closure of a lane near Newport. The issue is affecting the eastbound stretch between junction 26 at Malpas and junction 25 at Caerleon, where lane 2 has been shut. Traffic is very slow through the area and delays are currently around 45 minutes. Motorists are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys while the flooding is dealt with. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.

Drivers heading west on the M4 motorway between Junction 28 (Tredegar Park) and Junction 29 (Castleton) are facing heavy congestion after incident lane restrictions this morning. According to Traffic Wales, lane 1 remains blocked while lanes 2 and 3 are now open. Travel times in the affected stretch are estimated at around 40 minutes of delay. It promises to be a Christmas cracker for rugby fans as BBC Cymru Wales agree free-to-air rights for three Welsh BKT United Rugby Championship matches over the festive period in partnership with Premier Sports.
