Essential work is to take place on the A5 River Ceiriog Viaduct to replace the major bridge deck movement joint. The works, which are being carried out in consultation with Highways England, will begin on 22 February and are programmed to take eight days. The owners of Marmaris Kebabs on Caroline Street appeared in Cardiff Crown Court on 8th February 2021 following multiple breaches of the Fire Safety Order, which is in place to protect against the risk of a fire. An RSPCA officer has labelled helping two badgers trapped on a ladder in a Torfaen canal as “the most bizarre and unusual” day in her 15 years on the frontline. The animal welfare charity teamed up with firefighters from the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to help two badgers, who had – unfathomably – got stuck between metal steps and the wall, on Pentre Lane over the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal in Cwmbran. Denbighshire Housing is starting construction on four, one-bedroom apartments on the site of the former Bodnant School canteen on Caradoc Road. The low carbon apartments, which will be built and certified to the energy-efficient Passivhaus standard, are part of the Council’s target to provide 170 more council homes by 2022 and their construction is being part funded by the Welsh Government through its Innovative Housing Programme.
