Today the Minister for Health and Social Services, Vaughan Gething has announced record funding of over £227m to expand health professional workforce training places in Wales, an increase of over £16m from last year. The additional money amounts to an 8.3% increase. It will see £9.124m more being allocated to help fund training across all education and training programmes for healthcare professionals in Wales. An extra £5.312m will be used to support GP training numbers and an increase of £0.762m for the pharmacy training budget across Wales. Propco Developments Limited has completed the second phase of Waterside Business Park with all eight units on the Lamby Way site in Rumney, Cardiff now fully let or sold. Part-funded by a six figure loan from the Development Bank of Wales, phase two is a £1.5 million site that includes eight industrial units. Wales’ award-winning water and soft drinks manufacturer Radnor Hills has risen to the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic with a series of product and customer innovations. The company opened its first shop on Amazon as well as its own online store to enable it to deliver its wide range of products direct to the doors of customers. Climate change could result in the loss of up to 92% of glaciers in the Alps by the end of this century according to new research findings. Led by researchers at Aberystwyth University, the European Union-funded ‘CHANGE’ project has modelled the Environmental Equilibrium Line Altitude of valley glaciers across the European Alps in order to make more accurate predictions of their likely response to climate change. The mountain range’s 4,000 glaciers include popular skiing destinations such as the famous Klein Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland, the Hintertux Glacier in Austria and La Grand Motte Glacier in Tignes, France. A 1.7m gingerbread house replicating the iconic McCallister house has been unveiled by Disney+ to mark the 30 th anniversary of Home Alone. A management buy-out (MBO) proposal has been submitted to the administrators of fashion retailer Peacocks and if successful has the potential to prevent UK-wide store closures and save 4,908 people from redundancy. The bid from a senior eCommerce manager at Peacocks Stores Ltd in conjunction with a private investor, follows the announcement (18 November) that Peacock’s parent company EWM Group had placed the company into the hands of administrators, FRP Advisory.
