A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for thousands of customers across parts of Rhondda Cynon Taffollowing an issue at Welsh Water’s Maerdy Water Treatment Works. Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water confirmed the issue affected the chemical dosing process at the treatment works, but said operational teams have now fixed the fault and water from the site is re-entering the network. Despite the repair, the boil water notice remains in place as a precaution while further testing and essential work continues to ensure water quality standards are fully met before normal supply resumes. Families across the UK will be able to enjoy cheaper meals, attractions and days out this summer under a new government-backed scheme aimed at easing pressure on household budgets. The UK Government has announced the launch of the “Great British Summer Savings” scheme, which will temporarily cut VAT on a range of family-friendly activities and attractions between June 25 and September 1, 2026.
