Property consultancy Knight Frank took the top spot in the national industrial property league table for the first half of 2020. Research by the Radius Data Exchange showed that Knight Frank transacted the most space of any property agent, at over 5.3 m sq ft, in the first six months of the year. A number of changes to local bus services are now in place across the County Borough, to improve upon the foundation level of core journeys that were agreed in the initial response to the Coronavirus pandemic.  During the lockdown period, this foundation level of service was agreed between bus operators and the Council, in order to control the spread of the virus. South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses following a collision on the B4512 Penrhys Road, near the village of Ystrad, which occurred at approximately 5.20pm yesterday (Sunday, September 6). The collision involved a single vehicle; a green off-road motorcycle. Despite the best efforts of emergency service colleagues the motorcyclist – a 27-year-old man – was declared deceased. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. The road remained closed while investigative work was carried out. One class at St Gwladys Primary School in Caerphilly have been told to self-isolate following a member of staff testing positive for coronavirus. In the past week, the county borough of Caerphilly has seen a number of coronavirus cases emerge. A spokesman on behalf of St Gwladys Primary School and Caerphilly LEA said: ‘We can confirm that a member of staff at the school has tested positive for coronavirus. “It has been agreed, following advice from Public Health Wales, that 21 pupils from one class will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. The recent increase in coronavirus cases within the Caerphilly county borough has resulted in the difficult decision to cease visits to care homes across the area with immediate effect. This cluster of coronavirus cases emerging in Caerphilly is being managed by a multi-agency team that includes Public Health Wales, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and Caerphilly County Borough Council. The Welsh Government has committed more than £2.3m to provide free face coverings for all learners in secondary school and further education settings. Education Minister Kirsty Williams made the announcement which will see £1.8m and £469,000 provided to schools and further education settings respectively. The Chief Medical Officer recommends the risk assessed use of face coverings in secondary schools in a range of settings where other physical controls cannot be or are unlikely to be maintained. The Welsh Government has announced it will fund up to 37 additional places for students at Cardiff University School of Medicine. There will be an additional 25 undergraduate places this academic year, with up to a further 12 places next year. There has been an increase in the number of successful applications to study medicine and healthcare courses this year. Cardiff University needs to increase the capacity of its medical programmes to accommodate the additional numbers of students.
