Two of Wales’ flagship cultural events have been provided financial support by the Welsh Government to help with the impact of COVID-19. Both the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol and Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod have announced that the 2020 summer events will not take place as planned, with the Eisteddfod postponed to take place in Ceredigion in 2021. CR Clarke & Co has now received approval for it’s Rapidly Manufactured CPAP (RMCPAP) unit and will be working with businesses in Wales including Panasonic on an initial run of 80 devices for further testing. The device, which has now received approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, aims to avoid the need for admitting patients into Intensive Care Unit. Bilingual road markings, with the clear message – ‘Thank you NHS’ – have been painted on three roads as you drive into the University Hospital of Wales in the Heath. The road markings which have been paid for by council contractors, Roman Road Lining and Amberon Traffic Management, were installed this morning (April 22). A new charity has been established to fundraise and provide additional support for the dogs being looked after at Cardiff Dogs Home and promote responsible dog ownership and humane behaviour towards dogs. South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision on the northbound carriageway of the A4232 between Leckwith and Culverhouse Cross, at 7.10am today (Wednesday April 22). One car – a maroon Peugeot 307 – was involved and the male driver was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he remains is a critical but stable condition. University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) senior lecturers Gaynor Thomas and Beverley Holland are making scrubs for healthcare staff at Swansea Bay University Health Board as part of the “For The Love of Scrubs” project. Award-winning entrepreneur Peter Webber is seeking Welsh Government support to manufacturehyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers that could be used to treat COVID-19 patients. A COMMUNITY project hit by the Coronavirus pandemic has been given a welcome boost from The National Lottery Community Fund. Meliden’s Y Shed project had been open for just nine months when the country went into lockdown. The Grade II listed building, which had undergone a £1.2 million revamp after standing empty for years, is home to a café and four start-up businesses.
