A man has been charged with the murder of 21-year-old Lauren Griffiths in Cathays, Cardiff. Lauren’s body was found at a flat in Glynrhondda Street at around 6.30pm on Tuesday, April 30 2019. Madog Llewellyn Rowlands, 22, from Wrexham, has been charged with murder and is remanded in custody to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. Lauren’s family, who live in the Oswestry area, have been updated and continue to be supported by family liaison officers. A MULTI-MILLION pound project that will place Pembrokeshire at the heart of global marine energy innovation has taken a major step forward. The Swansea Bay City Deal’s Joint Committee has signed-off a detailed business case for the £60 million Pembroke Dock Marine project, which will now be submitted to the UK Government and Welsh Government for final approval. Pinewood Group today announced that following discussions with the Welsh Government, it has served notice to end its agreement for the studio in Cardiff. The agreement, which covered the sales and marketing of the studio, as well as the studio operation and management services, will come to an end on 31 March 2020. The studio will remain branded and operated as a Pinewood facility until then. A nurse, who works at a specialist hospital in Cardiff helping adults with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour or mental illness, has won two awards at the Wales Care Awards 2019. Claire Wilson who works at Pinetree Hospital, part of Ludlow Street Healthcare, was awarded the Independent Nurse of the Year Award, as well as the Welsh Government’s Gold Award for Dignity in Care. St Illtyd’s Catholic High School in Cardiff, welcomed the return of St John Cymru, teaching enthusiastic pupils lifesaving skills. A World War Two Spitfire mechanic is spearheading a call to support this year’s Poppy Appeal in North Wales. Ernest Simmonds, 93, who prepared two of the iconic fighter planes that went over to France on D-Day, lives with his wife of 72 years, Gwyneth, also 93, at Pendine Park’s Hillbury House Care Home in Wrexham.
