Detectives investigating the serious assault upon a 21-year-old man have recovered two firearms on land near Harrowby Street in Butetown and a search of the area is continuing. Officers were called to Harris Avenue, Rumney, at 3.25pm on Monday, April 13 following reports of a serious assault. The victim, who is from Tremorfa, suffered injuries believed to have been caused by a machete and a shot gun. He underwent surgery at the University Hospital of Wales but has since been discharged from hospital. Artistic care home residents have created a spectacular display to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day. They have made a giant number 75 – five feet high and six  feet across – adorned with bright red poppies which will form the centrepiece of the celebrations at the locked down Pendine Park care organisation in Wrexham on Friday (May 8).
