A charity that supports thousands of homeless young people in Wales has been boosted by a £5,000 package of support from leading building contractor United Living. The charity’s Newport office, which provides front-line support for homeless young people and vulnerable women, has been refurbished by the United Living team as part of its year-long support for Llamau. A £1,000 donation was also provided to pay for much-needed furnishing for the office in Stow Hill, Newport. A group of aspiring artists from Coleg y Cymoedd have turned their collective talents to creating a refuge of calm for patients of Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital. The 28 Level 2 art learners from the college’s Nantgarw campus have worked to create a series of colourful pieces to transform the outside courtyard used by patients of the hospital’s Acute Adult Mental Health Ward. A leading IT specialist has been selected to provide the hi-tech cabling solution for a £23million school in North Wales. A striking over-sized daffodil is coming to Swansea to launch Marie Curie’s biggest annual fundraising campaign, the Great Daffodil Appeal. The ‘Great Big Daffodil’ will visit the Quadrant shopping centre on February 22 and 23. The Great Daffodil Appeal raises money so thousands of people with a terminal illness can receive 1.2 million hours of free nursing care at home or in a Marie Curie hospice, as well as support for their families.
