Adoption UK Cymru has welcomed experienced communications professional Stuart McCarthy-Thompson into a new community support role, which will focus on developing the volunteer network of adoptive parents and sharing their journeys with other adoptive families. A Cardiff family had a shock when a stray ferret wandered through the back-door of their home.  RSPCA Cymru was contacted after the ferret made an unannounced visit to a property on Fidlas Road last Friday evening (11 October). The property is on the Cyncoed side of the road. The male ferret was taken to a veterinary practice to be checked over, but fortunately was found to have no welfare concerns. South Wales Police can confirm that the body recovered from the River Taff near Abercynon on Wednesday afternoon (16 October) has been formally identified as being that of 22 year-old Brooke Morris, from Trelewis, who was reported missing on Saturday, 12 October, 2019. The Coroner has been informed and a post mortem is due to be carried out to determine the cause of Brooke’s death. South Wales Police officers are continuing to provide support to Brooke’s family. The Farmers’ Union of Wales says the draft withdrawal deal and political declaration agreed between the EU and the UK does nothing to allay concerns present in Theresa May’s original deal, given it contains ‘no significant changes or improvements for Wales’ and will place the UK outside the Single Market. Cardiff Council and South Wales Police once again joined forces at the weekend to tackle off-road bikes. Four off-road vehicles were seized as part of the operation and all of the bikes will be crushed and recycled unless the owners claim their vehicle back with the correct paperwork and insurance details. A black Detroit pit bike was spotted on Coryton roundabout which officers stopped and seized. A 30-year-old man from Thornhill was arrested by the South Wales Police on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.
