Visitors to beautiful beaches across Swansea and Gower are being urged to join a voluntary ban on flying rings to protect seals living around the coast. Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced that the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach will serve as the host venue for the 2025 Six Nations Women’s Summer Series. The prestigious international tournament will take place over three match days: Saturday 5th, Friday 11th and Thursday 17th July 2025. The Summer Series features predominantly under-20 squads from all Six Nations unions: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. Four more public access defibrillators have been installed in Cardiff city centre. The installation of the new life-saving equipment brings the total number of defibrillators in key city centre locations to nine. A WEAPONS awareness campaign roared into life following the construction of a four-metre knife dragon. After almost four years of hard work by lecturer John Freeman and students, the hand-crafted statue of a dragon protecting a small child has taken its place outside Coleg Cambria’s Bersham Road site in Wrexham. Some of the mysteries surrounding the underwater lives of Cardigan Bay’s bottlenose dolphins are being uncovered as part of an innovative research project. Researchers from the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales are spending time at sea collecting the dolphins’ poo to learn more about their diet and behaviour. The stool samples are then being analysed by scientists at Aberystwyth University, who are using the latest environmental DNA (eDNA) techniques to extract detailed data on the animals’ diet.
