An exciting collaboration between a leading artist, staff and students across two faculties at UWTSD has culminated in an innovative project to produce a reception desk for the new IQ building in SA1 Swansea Waterfront made from recycled glass. A new free guide to Cardiff’s burgeoning art scene has been created to make culture more accessible to everyone in the city. The Art Freshers’ Guide Web Book: Art Freshers’ Guide to the Art World is designed to help anyone new to the city, or the art curios who already live and work here, get the most from what’s on offer. A team of doctors from South Wales has travelled to a conference in Senegal to present ideas about novel ways of delivering healthcare education in Africa and Asia. Organised by Merck Foundation, the charitable arm of the global pharmaceutical company, Merck, the event in Dakar brought together more than 500 healthcare professionals from 58 countries. Attendees included the First Ladies from 11 African states, under the patronage of the President of Senegal, Macky Sall. In fact, according to new research from the Celtic Manor Resort, over half (51%) of Welsh people surveyed still follow classic Welsh customs, with taffy making (55%) ranked the most popular. The Cardiff-based sixth form college welcomed almost 1000 young people across the two evenings to its Penylan campus, all looking to take their next steps in their education. Sixty-eight new and existing Foundation Degree and BA Inclusive Education students started their course in the new location of St Thomas Primary School last month.  Created for Teaching Assistants, this innovative Foundation Degree in Inclusive Education programme is a three year part-time programme with sessions delivered as twilight sessions and on Saturdays.
