Cardiff Bay was alive with action over the Bank Holiday weekend, as two boats capsized within moments of each other on the Extreme Sailing Series™ racecourse. The environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy is launching an exciting project which will help keep Wales’ streets clean by turning chewing gum waste into beach products. Continuing their partnership with Gumdrop Ltd, the first company in the world to recycle and process chewing gum, Keep Wales Tidy have designed branded bucket and spades sets entirely made from the recycled gum material. The innovative project hopes to highlight the problem of chewing gum on our streets while producing sustainable products from the waste collected. Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend 2018 continues in Cardiff, with the famous Pride Parade and over 15,000 attendees at the yesterday’s event (25 August). The operator is alerting attendees to road closures and route diversions ahead of the hugely successful event set to take place across Cardiff this weekend. Due to a technical fault Newport City Council has had to suspend public access to the gondola crossings on the Transporter Bridge. Work on repairing the fault on the bridge, which is more than 112 years old, is estimated to take about three weeks. In the meantime visitors can still walk over the top of the iconic structure at a reduced rate of £1.50 for adults and £1 for children.
