Employers should lead on support and education for young savers to capitalise on their engagement with pensions, according to Quantum Advisory, the leading pensions and employee benefits consultancy for small and medium sized schemes and employers. New research from Pensions UK has perhaps surprisingly revealed that younger pension savers are more likely to understand and proactively engage with their defined contribution pension investments than older colleagues. 31% of savers aged 18 to 34 stated that they knew what their pension was invested in, compared to 21% in the next age bracket. A small village community hub that has become a lifeline for residents is set to expand its activities thanks to a funding boost from local energy company, Pennant Walters. The Glynogwr Hub, based at St Tyfodwg’s Church, has received £11,000 which has allowed the purchase of new chairs that will replace the pews and transform the way the space can be used by the local community. Primary school pupils from across Caerphilly County Borough came together to compete in the Primary School Cluster League Football Finals, showcasing teamwork, skill and a shared passion for the game. The competition, open to pupils in Years 5 and 6, followed a structured league format, with teams playing 7 a side matches in squads of up to 10. Schools first competed across three rounds within five cluster areas: Blackwood, Caerphilly, Risca, Upper Rhymney and Ystrad Mynach. Year 6 pupils at Waunfawr Primary School have been exploring the global impact of food choices as part of an interactive sustainability project delivered by Size of Wales in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council. The initiative, which ran over three weeks, introduced pupils to key environmental issues linked to global food systems, including deforestation and the hidden impact of so-called “forest risk” ingredients such as beef from South America, palm oil, soy, coffee and cacao.
