Corryn Biotechnologies, an advanced skincare and cosmetics company based in Port Talbot, has secured £500,000 equity investment to commercialise and scale up its cosmetic aftercare products in the UK and US. A college in South Wales is launching its first vocational course delivered entirely in Welsh to help address growing demand for bilingual staff in the childcare and care sectors. Coleg y Cymoedd will introduce a Welsh-language Level 2 Childcare course from September, creating a new pathway for learners who want to study and work through the medium of Welsh. Over a million pounds worth of drugs have been seized since the launch of Renew Bangor in March 2025. The multi-agency project began last year with an aim to tackle serious and organised crime in Bangor and surrounding areas. Over the last year, police and partners have carried out 75 operations which has resulted in £1.25 million worth of drugs being taken off the streets, £260,000 worth of criminal property seized and 71 drink and drug drivers arrested. A mental health support organisation founded as a result of a family tragedy has received the honour of a King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Megan’s Starr Foundation received the prestigious accolade for its important work in supporting young people with mental health issues in Milford Haven and across Pembrokeshire. Nicola Harteveld set up the foundation in the wake of the death of her daughter Megan, who sadly took her own life in 2017 after struggling with her mental health. A section of the Church Village Bypass is set to close overnight on two consecutive evenings next week to allow for essential maintenance work. Church Village Bypass will be closed between Nant Dowlais Roundabout and Nant Celyn Roundabout on the evenings of Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8. The closures will be in place from 7pm each night, reopening by 4am the following mornings. Monmouthshire County Council has confirmed that it has agreed the next steps to deliver a permanent solution to the landslip at Neuadd Straight on the Llanthony Valley road. Following the road closure on 30 January, the council will soon enter a contract with its preferred contractor, Griffiths, allowing construction work to commence on 7 April 2026.
