Cardiff Metropolitan University has secured £18 million in low-cost loan funding from the Welsh Government to accelerate work to decarbonise its campuses. The funding, awarded through an extension to the Digarbon Round 2 scheme, and delivered by Salix Finance, brings the University’s total Digarbon support to £24.2 million, following £6.2 million awarded in December 2025. Subject to a full technical assessment, the investment will fund additional low carbon heating systems, expanded solar generation, energy efficient lighting and building upgrades across Cardiff Met’s estate, cutting emissions and reducing long term energy costs. The M48 Severn Bridge has been closed in both directions following a police incident, Traffic Wales has confirmed. The road remains shut at this time, with motorists being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. Traffic Wales warned that delays are expected while the closure remains in place. A Rhyl-based community interest company has become the first in Wales to formally meet the standards of an internationally recognised employability model. Not-for-profit RCS Wales achieved Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Fidelity after its specialised job assistance programme, WorkWell Conwy, was independently evaluated. It achieved IPS fidelity in a formal review carried out by Centre for Mental Health, in partnership with IPS Grow. A dispersal order has been put in place across parts of Swansea following a rise in reports of anti-social behaviour this evening. South Wales Police confirmed that a Section 35 dispersal order has been authorised in Swansea city centre on Saturday (April 4), giving officers additional powers to tackle those behaving in an anti-social manner.
