A large wildfire continued burning overnight in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park after breaking out on Thursday afternoon. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews remained at the scene on Thursday evening as they tackled the blaze, which affected an area of around 20 square kilometres. The fire impacted forestry, peat and fine grassland, creating difficult conditions for firefighters working in the area. Wales’ leading tobacco control charity is today calling on all parties contesting the Senedd election to set out how they will deliver a Smokefree Wales, as the Tobacco and Vapes Act receives Royal Assent and becomes law. As this landmark legislation is passed, ASH Wales warns around 10 people die everyday from smoking in Wales. This legislation is the most significant tobacco control measure in a generation. Such was the response to the opening day of the show, held at the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd, on Saturday that many exhibitors had to transport more stock for their stalls. Ogmore Vale Bowls Club has received continued support to further enhance its community facilities, with an additional £9,000 which has been put to good use in developing a new patio area and siting two new equipment sheds.
