RCT’s cabinet  has received a progress report on the redevelopment of the Marks and Spencer site in Pontypridd Town Centre, following its recent demolition. Members considered the latest progress on developing the overall plan for the site, and approved the next stages of the scheme. Berw Road Bridge (White Bridge) in Pontypridd has reopened to two-way traffic and pedestrians following major repairs to the Listed structure. The Council’s most recent update on July 12 confirmed that the scheme had entered its final stages. In recent days, final resurfacing and white lining work has been completed on the bridge, while the installation of an illuminated handrail providing streetlighting has been installed. Resurfacing work nearby at The Parade has also progressed, with the completion of the two schemes being coordinated to avoid further disruption in the future. After months of work, Newport City Council can confirm that the first phase of improvements at Tredegar Park, a new water play zone, Splash ‘Port, and an upgraded play area, are nearing completion. The enabling works prior to the bridge removal will commence on Friday the 26th July from 19:00.
