More than 40 volunteers have joined forces to collect over 20kg of harmful plastic from the Carmarthenshire coastline. The beach clean organised by Coleg Sir Gâr’s Green 24 project was held at Cefn Sidan, Pembrey Country Park, as part of Carmarthenshire County Council’s wider sustainability event, Green Warrior Day. Three men have been sentenced to a total of 30 years after assaulting a man and robbing him of his fake Rolex. The 45-year-old victim tragically lost an eye as a result of the assault and the impact on his personal and professional life has been devastating. After committing the robbery, Abdul Ismail, one of the three men convicted, filmed himself with the watch and posted photographs on Snapchat. Scolton Manor, Pembrokeshire’s Victorian manor house and gardens museum continues to grow from strength-to-strength as a popular visitor attraction with the opening of a new Heritage display and shop. Primary school pupils in Ynyswen are now able to enjoy fantastic new outdoor learning and play facilities at their school – following a significant investment by the Council that will also benefit the wider community. On 15th May 2024 at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court Lisa Hunt from Merthyr Tydfil was convicted for offences under the Trade Marks Act in relation to the supply of counterfeit goods. Lisa Hunt was found guilty of seven offences related to the sale of counterfeit goods through a Facebook group. The conviction follows an investigation by Merthyr Tydfil Trading Standards into the unlawful trading activities conducted by the defendant. Applications are now open for micro, small and medium sized businesses in the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors to access funding to invest in future proofing their business. The Welsh Government’s £20 million Future Proofing Fund will help up to 2,500 businesses invest in renewable energy technology, improvements to their premises, and upgrades to systems or machinery to reduce energy use.
