Plans to make Swansea’s historic Oystermouth Castle even more welcoming to visitors have taken an important step forward. Funding has been secured to undertake a feasibility study into a range of innovations at the attraction. It could lead to the creation of a new reception area, shop, education facilities, exhibition area and visitor toilet. The Hive Guys Youth Project, funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Youth Service, recently collaborated with local artists, Hurts So Good, to create a mural at the community centre. The youth group host weekly meetings for young people in the Vale at Buttrills Community Centre in Barry, which had previously been defaced by a graffiti tag. Young people involved with the Hive Guys Youth Project collaborated with Hurts So Good and community centre users to create a mural design that would replace the graffiti and better represent the local community. Please be aware that there will be traffic management at three streets in Porth, to enable preparatory work for future drainage upgrades. A future scheme to improve the drainage system at Tuberville Road is currently being designed, and ground investigations will start from Monday, April 8. The first event of the year, Ystrad Mynach Spring Fair, took place on Saturday 23rd March 2024. Ystrad Mynach Town Centre saw an amazing 5,623 visitors on the day, with peak attendance being 995 at 12pm. This has been the busiest day of the year for the town so far, with there being 4,493 more visitors compared to the previous Saturday. The motorcyclist who died following a road traffic collision which happened on March 30, on the B4265 between Cardiff Airport and Llantwit Major has been named. He is Barrie Taylor, 51, from Bridgend. Mr Taylor died at the scene of the collision despite the best efforts of members of public and paramedics in attendance.. A 28-year-old man has been sent to prison for almost three years after assaulting two different partners in the space of a few months. On Thursday, March 28, Lewis Symons from Caerau, Ely, in Cardiff, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court to 33 months in prison. Severn View Park Care Home will innovate how care is delivered to people with dementia, allowing them to live a life that matters to them. Thanks to a successful campaign to attract volunteers to run the St Davids’ library on Saturday mornings, the facility will be open for the local community to enjoy. Customers will be able to use the library’s facilities between 10am and 12pm each Saturday from April 6th 2024.
