A consignment of Easter eggs will help struggling families celebrate the holiday weekend along the North Wales coast thanks to a local community group. A top eco tourist attraction is gearing up for the new season with a brand new ride and is taking on 100 workers. GreenWood Family Park, in Felinheli, near Bangor, in North Wales, has invested more than £100,000 in importing the giant Forest Glider slide from the Netherlands and installing it just in time for the Easter holidays. Powerleague Cardiff will be one of six hosts to the 2024 Ladbrokes Players Cup five-a-side tournament, offering local teams the chance to win a sum of the record-breaking £100,000 prize pot at stake. A Tesco shopper showed they had a heart of gold when they voted for Cancer Support UK to receive £5,000 to help Swansea’s children. Last Saturday, customers in Swansea were given the chance to take part in a lucky dip to find a specially created gold version of Tesco’s iconic blue voting token. Cancer Support UK was one of three local charities that shoppers could vote for to receive the £5,000 Golden Grant as part of Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme. Groups and charities working to combat food poverty in Swansea say grants are proving vital in helping them to keep people fed during the cost of living crisis. Sixty five organisations secured funding from the latest round of the Direct Food Support Grant which is funded by Welsh Government and administered by Swansea Council. Successful applications came from projects across Swansea providing a range of support from food banks, cooking lessons, hot food provision, community cafes, breakfast and lunch clubs as well as fruit picking and distribution. Working in partnership, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and South Wales Police have reached a favourable agreement that will enhance policing services within the area. This will see the Pontypridd Police Station building transferred into Council ownership. At the same time, Council office accommodation at Ty Trevithick, Abercynon, will transfer to South Wales Police and become the new Divisional Hub for South Wales Police. The Net Zero Newport Decarbonisation Programme provides free energy-saving advice and grant funding to help local organisations reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions.
