A local homebuilder has been given the go ahead to build 235 new homes in Mold. Ewloe-based Anwyl Homes was granted planning consent by Flintshire County Council at Wednesday’s planning committee meeting for the site off Gwernaffield Road. The 28-acre parcel of land, which is allocated for housing in the adopted local plan, will feature 94 affordable homes alongside 141 private sale homes. Across the development there will be a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom designs, meeting demand for high quality homes in the area. First Hydrogen has successfully completed hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle (FCEV) trials with gas distribution network Wales & West Utilities (WWU), accruing the vehicle’s highest ever mileage. The first-of-its-kind van completed more than 2,000 km (>1,200 miles) over the four-week trial, travelling up to 189 km / 117 miles per day on mostly urban roads and highways in some of South Wales’ coldest conditions. Several rural communities in Wales can now access fast and reliable 4G mobile coverage, as UK Government delivers on plans to tackle poor and patchy connection. Unite, the UK’s leading union, has slated Tata’s shock announcement yesterday that it will be closing the coking ovens at Port Talbot steel works with near immediate effect. Although the coking ovens were known to be in a state of disrepair, Tata had not indicated to trade unions during recent consultations that they were at risk of imminent closure. Tata recently told the unions that it hoped to increase their capacity in the near future.
