Cardiff Council’s waste blitz team has cleared a significant amount of litter and fly tipped waste from Rover Way and Southern Way over the last two days. The clean up operation targeted two of the city’s key routes, where rubbish and illegally dumped waste had built up. Council teams worked to remove the debris and restore the areas to a cleaner and safer standard for motorists, businesses and nearby communities. Motorists are being urged to avoid Llantwit Major Road following a collision which has led to a full road closure. South Wales Police confirmed that officers are at the scene and the road is currently closed in both directions between Sigingstone, at the Cowbridge turn off, and the Vale Business Park in Nash. ISTL Engineering, a South Wales-based mechanical and electrical contractor, has secured a six-figure loan from the Investment Fund for Wales, through FW Capital, which will be used to support its work on significant new contracts in Cardiff Bay, creating 10 new jobs. The investment will be used to fund infrastructure required for the company’s role on the Channel View residential project delivered by Wates Construction under its framework agreement with Cardiff Council. Motorists are being warned of possible delays across several major routes in South Wales this evening as rush hour traffic begins to build. According to Traffic Wales, congestion is affecting stretches of the M4 westbound between J23A Magor and J26 Malpas. Drivers heading towards Newport and Cardiff are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Further delays are also possible on the M4 westbound at J30 Cardiff Gate, a key junction for those travelling into and around the capital. Officers from South Wales Police are currently at the scene on the A470 southbound, just before Abercynon. The collision has happened within the 50mph zone prior to the Abercynon roundabout, with drivers advised to use alternative routes where possible. Traffic is expected to build in the area while emergency services deal with the incident. Road users are being thanked for their patience and cooperation. Motorists have faced disruption on the A465 this afternoon following reports of congestion and a road closure westbound between Gilwern and Clydach. The UK’s largest outdoor cinema is heading back to Wales this summer, with screenings confirmed at Cardiff Castle in May and Margam Country Park in July. Adventure Cinema will return with what organisers say is its most immersive season yet, bringing open air film nights to two of Wales’ most iconic settings.
