Azets, the UK’s largest regional accountancy firm and business advisor to SMEs, has announced two new appointments to the internal audit team.

Gareth Campbell has joined the team as Assistant Manager and Debra Webb as Senior Internal Audit Manager – they will be working from the Cardiff office and covering internal audit clients across the South West and Wales.

With over 20 years’ experience, Debra is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA) and a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Practitioner. Debra has worked across both the public and private sectors, most recently with Tata Steel Europe, delivering independent assurance and consultancy in Governance, Risk, and Internal Control. Debra is a Committee Member of the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors Wales Cymru and supports the delivery of events and networking opportunities within her role.

Having worked in a range of sectors, including charity, housing, education and healthcare, Gareth is an ACCA Chartered Accountant who has completed numerous long-term secondments at government agencies, including the DVLA and Office for National Statistics, since qualifying in 2015. Away from work Gareth plays water polo and is currently training with the Wales squad with the aim of playing in the Commonwealth Games.

Paul Haley, Audit Director at Azets South West and Wales commented: “The appointments of Debra and Gareth bolster our team to provide even more value-added internal audit insight to our clients and it goes without saying that we’re delighted to welcome them to the company.

Internally, Debra and Gareth will work closely to continue the development of the Azets Internal Audit Centre of Excellence – building a specialist service provision that delivers high quality professional governance, risk, & controls assurance to ensure clients across the network continue to receive the best possible service.”
