Cardiff Bus provides employers with a ‘Back to Bus’ safety guide for staff

Cardiff Bus

Cardiff Bus are welcoming more of its customers back onboard as Covid19 restrictions are eased. The operator has created a ‘Back to Bus’ guide for employers to distribute to employees who will be returning to work.

In anticipation of this increase in people returning to work, the bus operator has worked tirelessly to ensure customers can travel with ease with full Covid19 safety measures in place, increased service frequency, and flexible ticket options.

The operator is continuing with its rigorous cleaning regime for all vehicles which includes additional cleaning of touch points during the day with anti-viral cleaning products and anti-viral fogging overnight. Hand sanitising dispensers have also been added to every bus.

Alongside this, capacity has been reduced on buses in line with social distancing guidance. A capacity checker has also been added to the Cardiff Bus app and website which allows passengers to check if the bus they are waiting for is busy or not.

Passengers can also use flexible tickets, which will help those who are only travelling to work occasionally and those whose working patterns have changed and no longer commute every day.

The operator is asking that customers also do their part to ensure the safety of both drivers and other passengers. All customers are asked to plan their journeys ahead and keep windows open for ventilation. Customers are also reminded that face coverings are mandatory on public transport in Wales, unless exempt.

Whilst customers can still pay with cash onboard, Cardiff Bus’s preferred payment methods are their mobile app, contactless or iff card.

Commercial Director Gareth Stevens said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to welcome more of our customers back on board with the easing of lockdown restrictions.

“As more of our customers return to work, we would like to remind everyone of the rigorous cleaning protocols in place to ensure passenger safety, as well our flexible tickets to help those whose work patterns are changeable.

“We want to remind customers that face coverings are mandatory on buses, unless exempt.  A face covering should cover your nose and mouth for the entire duration of your journey and should be applied before you board.

“We ask that customers ensure they are adhering to our ‘Back to Bus’ guidance to ensure the safety of everyone onboard.

“We would encourage our customers to plan their journeys ahead and to please check our website, social media and app for all the latest travel news and information.”
