Cardiff Beach Volleyball and Fireball Beach Volleyball are excited to announce the highly anticipated Cardiff Open 2023, set to take place this weekend at the picturesque Cardiff Beach Volleyball venue, set in Victoria Park. This thrilling event will bring together top-tier athletes, passionate beach volleyball enthusiasts, and a vibrant beach atmosphere, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

Scheduled to kick off on May 27th, the Cardiff Open 2023 is expected to be the largest and most exhilarating beach volleyball tournament in the region. Featuring elite players from across the UK, this tournament will showcase the pinnacle of beach volleyball skill, strategy, and athleticism.

The Cardiff Open 2023 will span two action-packed days, filled with intense matches, high-flying spikes, and breathtaking digs. Spectators can look forward to witnessing the world’s best athletes battling it out on the sun-soaked sands of Cardiff Beach Volleyball, while enjoying the energetic ambiance and thrilling atmosphere that only beach volleyball can offer.

Tournament organiser Sam Dunbavin said: “The Cardiff Open is a testament to the growing popularity and excitement surrounding beach volleyball. We are thrilled to host this prestigious tournament and welcome players, fans, and sponsors from all around the country. It promises to be a celebration of the sport and a fantastic weekend of beach volleyball action.”

In addition to the exhilarating matches, the Cardiff Open 2023 will also feature various engaging activities and entertainment for spectators of all ages. Younger spectators will be offered the opportunity to be ball children for the finals on Sunday, while everyone can enjoy the in-house DJ and commentary and grab a beverage from the bar! The event will create an inclusive and enjoyable experience, with something for everyone to enjoy.

“We are proud to partner with Cardiff Beach Volleyball to bring the Cardiff Open 2023 to life,” Sam Dunbavin continues. “This tournament should showcase the passion, talent, and dedication to the sport that all these athletes have in the fantastic local facility that a lot of people don’t know is there! I really hope that some of those that come along to watch are inspired to come along to try the sport out this summer-there are lots of opportunities for them to get involved here in Cardiff.”

Spectators will also be inspired by the wealth of local talent competing. Number 1 ranked Welsh male player Conor Robins is back from training abroad in Australia over the winter, playing with local coach Aleksandar Borisov. An exciting Welsh junior pair of Madog Hammond and Zak Maghur are competing too, and are hoping to transfer some of their form on the national junior circuit to the Cardiff Open stage. On the women’s side, Clare Skidmore will be bringing the fire for the Welsh talent!”
