Two day-time road closures are required at Llantrisant Road in Tonyrefail this weekend (September 17-18), to install a raised crossing point and enable the final resurfacing for highway improvements in the area.

The Council has been undertaking a series of improvements at Llantrisant Road and Pantybrad. The works area starts near the Red Cow public house and continues past Tref-y Rhyg Primary School. The scheme is in the process of introducing improved pedestrian routes, dropped crossing points, improved drainage, upgraded street lighting, and a new raised pedestrian crossing.

The Council’s contractor Horan Construction Ltd will soon undertake the final work associated with the scheme. A full road closure is required on Saturday, September 17, and Sunday, September 18, (9am to 4pm each day).

The road closure area will encompass the junction of The Avenue and Llantrisant Road, the junction of Pretoria Road and Llantrisant Road, and Pantrbrad at its junction with Pantybrad Lane. An alternative route for motorists will be clearly signposted via Llantrisant Road, Llantrisant Business Park Access Road, Ynysmaerdy Roundabout, A4119, Penygarreg Road, Tylcha Wen Terrace, Mill Street, High Street and Pretoria Road.

Access will be maintained for pedestrians, emergency service vehicles, and vehicles accessing local properties located within the road closure area.

Works will then continue using Stop/Go traffic boards on Tuesday, September 20, and Wednesday, September 21, (9.30am to 3pm each day). Please allow extra time for your journeys through the area, with some disruption expected.
