Wesley Buildings, in the desirable historic village of Machen, close to Caerphilly and not far from Cardiff and Newport, now presents a challenging opportunity for its new owner.
Angie Davey, of Paul Fosh Auctions, says the property, listed for £9,500 but which sold for £34,500, could be an ideal project for the investor looking to get stuck into renovation.
A total of seven bidders lodged 56 bids before the property was sold in the online Paul Fosh Auctions sale.
Angie said: “The property, which is actually a trio of former semi-detached cottages, are now clearly in a dilapidated condition.
“We are advised that they were originally three cottages spread over three floors. Currently the cottages have no utilities or water.
“Viewings of the lot were unaccompanied and were undertaken by any prospective buyer at their own risk.
“Footpath access is currently solely through Wesley Hill and then via a neighbour’s garden, Wesley House, via a Right of Way.
“Parking is available on the main road. The property doesn’t have vehicular access.
“As far as the property goes, we believe that there may be the potential for car parking in the future perhaps by purchasing access from the neighbour and subject to the necessary highway’s consents. Interested parties are advised to do their own checks.
“The cottages are located in Machen, a large village three miles east of Caerphilly, South Wales. It is situated in the Caerphilly Borough within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire. It neighbours Bedwas and Trethomas, and forms a council ward in conjunction with these communities.
