Transport for Wales is pleased to announce that Vernon Everitt, a Managing Director with Transport for London, has joined Transport for Wales as a Non-Executive Director.

Vernon has worked for TfL for over twelve years where he is Managing Director for Customers, Communication and Technology, and is currently interim Managing Director for London Underground and TfL Engineering.

At TfL, he is responsible for customer and technology/data strategies and their delivery. With a focus on putting the customer at the heart of operations, he is accountable for fares and payment operations, contact centres, customer information, marketing and customer insight, media relations, public affairs, travel demand management and city planning.

As a new and evolving organisation, Transport for Wales will benefit from this wealth of industry experience and knowledge, with clear parallels between the two organisations.

A career highlight for Vernon was successfully leading the pan-Government and transport industry marketing and communications strategy for the London 2012 Games, which was the largest integrated campaign of its kind ever undertaken.

Speaking about his new role with Transport for Wales, Vernon Everitt said: “It’s a privilege to join Transport for Wales as a Non-Executive Director especially at such an exciting and transformative time. I’ve worked for Transport for London for over twelve years in a variety of roles and this will be a great opportunity to share industry knowledge and expertise.

“There are many similarities between TfL and TfW. Central to this is always thinking about the needs of passengers and customers and to continuously improve transport through creating accessible and integrated services. I’m really looking forward to working with TfW as they progress with their ambitious plans and transform transport across Wales and the borders.”

Scott Waddington, Chair of the Board for Transport for Wales added: “We are delighted to welcome Vernon to the Transport for Wales team as a Non-Executive Director. As a Managing Director with Transport for London, he brings in-depth industry knowledge which will help shape our strategic planning and delivery of key projects as we move forward.

“Vernon is very experienced in customer information, insight and strategy and at Transport for Wales we are putting the customer at the heart of our decision making. His level of understanding and experience will be imperative as we work to totally transform the travel experience for our customers.”
