The countdown is on! In just 100 days, Wales’ biggest summer running festival will return—bigger, better, and more exciting than ever! Taking place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, the festival will feature three thrilling events: the hugely popular Swansea University Swansea Half Marathon, the Front Runner City 5 Miler, and the Freedom Leisure Family Run.

But that’s not all—this year’s event will also host the Masters Road International Championships, welcoming over 300 elite Masters athletes from Wales and England, raising the competition to a whole new level!

A Celebration of Running for Everyone!

Tash Smith, Acting Managing Director of Front Runner Events, shared her excitement:

“We are beyond thrilled to bring Swansea’s biggest running celebration back this summer! From elite Masters athletes to first-time runners, from young kids to seasoned pros, this event is truly for everyone. It’s an incredible honor to host the Masters Championships while also welcoming families and teams to the start line. Running is for all—and that’s exactly what #RunSwansea represents.”

Thousands of athletes, fundraisers, wheelchair participants, and enthusiastic spectators will descend on Swansea for this festival of running. The event also includes the Team Challenge, where businesses and organisations can battle it out in some friendly competition!

    An Unforgettable Race Experience

The Swansea Half Marathon showcases some of the most stunning sights of the maritime city—home to the world’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Runners and wheelchair athletes will start beneath the iconic Copr Bay Bridge, loop around Swansea University’s Singleton Campus, pass the historic Brangwyn Hall, and weave through the city past Swansea Castle. They’ll then take in the vibrant sights of the Waterfront Museum, head towards Mumbles, passing the home of Welsh music legend Bonnie Tyler, and enjoy breathtaking views of Mumbles Lighthouse. The return journey along the famous promenade—formerly home to the world’s first passenger railway—offering unrivalled panoramic views of Swansea Bay before the big finish at Swansea Arena.

The Front Runner City 5 Miler + follows the first four miles of the half marathon route before an exhilarating finish across Copr Bay Bridge and back to the finish line. Meanwhile, the Family Fun Run, a 2K flat route, allows participants of all abilities (including little ones in buggies!) to enjoy a fun, inclusive race.

Secure Your Spot Before It’s Too Late!

With just 100 days to go and over 65% of entries already sold, this event is expected to sell out fast. Don’t miss your chance to be part of Swansea’s most exciting running event of the year!

    Tash Smith added:

“We’re working hard to make this our biggest and best event yet! Whether you’re new to running or keen to start, #RunSwansea is for everyone so no matter your age or ability there’s an event for you! Join us, and let’s make 2025 a year to remember!”

    A Race with Heart

Since its launch in 2014, the Swansea Half Marathon has raised millions for charity, supporting both official partner organisations and independent fundraisers.

The event has also built a loyal following, including the #EverPresent gang, who have taken part every single year. One dedicated runner, Swansea-born Abi Morgan, returns from the Midlands year after year, no matter what. When asked why, she said:

“Hiraeth! It sends shivers down my spine every time I hear the national anthem before the start. The support, especially at Mumbles, is incredible. I always glance up to see if Bonnie Tyler is waving from her balcony—sometimes she is!”
