    Want to start fresh in 2023 with a new career? You’re not alone. The New Year is a common time to review your career progression and decide if it’s working for you. If it isn’t, you might be thinking about a change of career instead of trying to progress in your current role. Maybe you’ve hit a ceiling, or maybe you’ve decided it just isn’t right for you.

    Changing careers might be difficult, but it certainly isn’t impossible. All you need to do is assess the transferable skills you already have and look for careers where they might be useful. Here are five great jobs to help you build a new career in 2023:

    1. Data Scientist

    Data scientists analyse large data sets to uncover trends and insights, helping businesses make better decisions. The demand for this role is growing rapidly and the salary is competitive. Plus, it’s an exciting job that allows you to explore your creative side. 

    To become a data scientist, you’ll need strong analytical and programming skills, as well as experience in data mining and machine learning. You could look for a short course to learn these skills or use skills gained in another sector to demonstrate that you have what it takes to succeed in this role.

    2. UX Researcher

    UX researchers help create better user experiences by researching how people use products and services. It’s a highly sought-after job that requires creativity and problem-solving skills. 

    UX researchers need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as knowledge of user-centred design and usability testing. If you’re already a designer, working in digital, or have a background in creative work, this could be an ideal career move for you.

    3. Care Worker

    Care workers provide support, advice and guidance to people who can’t look after themselves. It’s a rewarding job that allows you to make a real difference in people’s lives. You’ll need patience, empathy and excellent communication skills to become a care worker.

    You can often train as a care worker on the job, which means you can start working and earning right away. You’ll likely be supervised while you undergo training, after which you’ll be able to work independently. 

    4. Social Media Manager

    Social media managers are responsible for managing a company’s social media accounts. They create engaging content, monitor and respond to comments, and analyse the performance of campaigns. 

    To become a successful social media manager you need strong writing skills, knowledge of different platforms and an understanding of current trends in the industry. If you’re already an active social media user, you could consider putting your content creation skills to use for different companies. You could either work in-house for a company, join an agency, or even try building your own freelance roster of clients.

    5. Executive Assistant

    Executive assistants are responsible for providing administrative support to senior executives. This job requires excellent organisational, communication and multitasking skills. You’ll need to be able to work independently and manage deadlines with ease. And finally, you’ll also need to be great with people as you’ll have to interact with a lot of different 

    To become an executive assistant you should have experience in office procedures and familiarity with different software packages. You could also try some courses for executive assistants to make sure you have all the skills you need to get started.

    Conclusion

    These are just five jobs that you could consider if you’re keen to make a change in 2023. They all offer low barriers to entry, provided you have some transferable skills from an existing role. They also offer good earning potential with excellent career development and progression opportunities.
