Rhug Farm Shop has joined forces with Conwy-based Baravelli to give customers an opportunity to win a hand-crafted unique milk chocolate egg with the Rhug Crest on it, worth £200.

Husband and wife team Emma and Mark Baravelli have been hand crafting delicious chocolate for nine years and have been recognised as crafting something very special with a tally of over 40 prestigious food awards. They have created unique chocolate designs for Harrods in London as well as to mark special occasions such as the RAF’s 100 years.

Originally trained in fashion design, Emma’s artistic talents are evident in each and every chocolate that she creates. Mark brings an engineering background to the chocolate preparation. He has been instrumental in creating their ‘Bean to Bar’ process and they remain one of only a handful of bean to bar artisan chocolatiers in the UK.

Rhug Estate General Manager, Graham Webster, is delighted that Baravelli’s has agreed to Rhug stocking their products. Graham said,

“Baravelli’s chocolates are unique in the UK. No one else supplies such hand-crafted products. Before we’ve been able to announce the stock’s arrival in the Farm Shop, we have virtually sold out of everything we have on display. The response the products have had from our regular customers has been phenomenal.

“We stock over 3,000 products in the Farm Shop but all the products we stock are chosen with our customers in mind. We have three chocolate suppliers now each offering our customers an unique product and taste as well as prices to suit everyone.  As well as Baravelli’s we also stock Wickedly Welsh and Sarah Bunton Chocolates.”

Emma Baravelli said, “We were delighted to be asked to stock our hand-crafted chocolates in Rhug’s Farm Shop. We are a small local, north Wales firm, keen to guard our reputation. Working with the Rhug Estate Farm Shop fits perfectly with our business ethos. We hope customers enjoy our chocolates and come back for more.”

The hand-crafted prize egg, worth £200, will be on display in the Farm Shop until 30 September 2018. Customers can win the stunning egg by buying a raffle ticket in store. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards the #Miles4Meg charity bike ride which will be calling at Rhug on 20 September.

#Miles4Meg is a three-day EPIC Sportif from 18-20 September 2018 incorporating a 250mile bike ride from London to Snowdon, followed by a climb up to the summit. The team of 30 to 40 people will be raising funds for Ataxia UK charity. ‘Ataxia’ is an umbrella term for a group of neurological disorders that affect balance, coordination and speech. There are many different types of ataxia that affect people in different ways.

Richard Bradford, a friend of Lord Newborough, has organised the #Miles4Meg event to raise funds for Ataxia UK. He said:

“My daughter Megan is getting worse every day and up to now all I could do was watch and wait, there is NO cure. As a father and a parent, it is unbearable. But I can’t just not do anything; I can’t make it all better for my little girl, but what I can do is support vital research to work towards finding a cure – for Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA). I’m asking you today to help us do this. Meg is 15. She was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) just over a year ago, and is already dependent on a wheelchair. She has now been told that her ataxia is far more aggressive than was previously suggested, and she’ll need to be fully aided and to use a fully automated wheelchair within the next year. There is no cure for ataxia: the only guarantee with FA is that tomorrow will be ever so slightly worse than today; there’s no way to stop it. More details are available here: https://www.ataxia.org.uk/appeal/miles4meg.”

The winner of the hand-crafted and uniquely designed chocolate egg will be announced on Monday, 1 October 2018.
