GlobalWelsh, an independent not-for-profit focused on connecting and engaging the Welsh diaspora, has launched MyMentor/FyMentor, a GlobalWelsh Academy mentoring programme focused on connecting members of the GlobalWelsh community with mentors around the world to support their career and business growth ambitions.

The programme is currently welcoming interest from mentees and mentors within the community who will then be matched based on their skills, expertise and aspirations. GlobalWelsh currently has a growing global community of members in over 40 countries and is focused on facilitating meaningful connections between Wales and the Welsh diaspora around the world for the economic benefit of Wales.

The MyMentor programme will be led by Sara Harper-Holton, GlobalWelsh board member and Global Head of Talent and Development at Reckitt-Benckiser and supported by Catrin Asbrey, GlobalWelsh Pioneer and Group HR Director at Keolis UK. Sara comments:

“Mentorship and nurturing talent is something I feel very passionate about. I have spent the last 25 years working with people to help them realise their potential and achieve their ambitions. As a passionate Welsh woman I am excited by the opportunity to help those within the Welsh community around the world to connect with world class mentors who have that extra something in common.

‘As someone who has left Wales many years ago, I feel it’s very important to stay connected and pay it forward to the next generation. This programme is a great opportunity for diaspora, like me, to get connected and give back by sharing knowledge and providing support to help nurture the young and the aspirational and enable them to navigate their way through the challenges and reach their goals.”

The programme is part of GlobalWelsh’s Academy initiative focused on harnessing the knowledge and expertise of the Welsh diaspora and sharing that with the community in Wales and around the world. Walter May, founder and CEO of GlobalWelsh, comments:

“For young people just starting out in their careers, for those looking to make a change, and for founders who’ve taken extraordinary risks, this is a particularly worrying time. We want to do what we can to connect these people to those with the experience and expertise to support them through the current situation and adapt to the changing world around them – and far beyond this. GlobalWelsh is focused on facilitating meaningful connections and opportunities for our community, the MyMentor programme is another example of how we can do this, on a global scale.”
