In July, Lymphoma Action will be hosting two free webinars that focus on recovery after two types of treatment that may be recommended for people affected by lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. The first webinar will be taking place on Wednesday 12 July from 12.30pm – 1.30pm and will look at strategies for preparing for, and recovering from, a stem cell transplant. Business confidence in Wales rose 14 points during the beginning of June to 32%, according to the latest Business Barometer from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. Companies in Wales reported higher confidence in their own business prospects month-on-month, up 13 points at 41%. When taken alongside their optimism in the economy, up 17 points to 24%, this gives a headline confidence reading of 32%. Welsh businesses identified their top target areas for growth in the next six months as evolving their offer 33%, investing in their teams 29% and diversifying into new markets 26%. A popular tennis scheme which has boosted the number of people taking up the sport in the Cardiff suburb of Heath, and which would see significant sums of money invested into local tennis courts, is set to be rolled out to six other parks across the city. Swansea’s Dylan Thomas Centre is in the running for a national award. The permanent Thomas exhibition and learning facility based in the centre has been shortlisted as best small museum in the Kids in Museums Awards 2023. The awards celebrate outstanding experiences for children and families. The council runs the centre’s Love the Words exhibition and engagement programme, which offer visitors an immersive introduction to Swansea-born poet Thomas. Motorists and businesses in Swansea city centre are set to benefit from a new set of car park charges in its car parks. Swansea Council is launching its new 1-2-3-4-5 parking charges scheme on July 24. And will mean motorists parking in council-owned car parks in the city centre* will pay no more than £5 to park all day. RCT Cabinet has received an update on the process of creating a new special school for Rhondda Cynon Taf, to respond to current and projected capacity pressures. A statutory consultation was agreed to begin the next stage of the formal process. At their meeting on Wednesday, June 28, Cabinet Members considered a report which seeks formal approval to begin the required consultation with key stakeholders to establish a new 3-19 special school.
