South Wales Police has launched the Substance Misuse and Harm Reduction Strategy 2022 – 2025, outlining what the Force is doing to reduce and prevent the harmful effects that drugs have on our communities. No drug use is minor. Drug users build their tolerance and the impact on their lives gets greater. It needs to be stopped early. National Trust Cymru and Literature Wales have come together to inspire young people across Wales to take action against climate change by connecting to nature, the outdoors and poetry. Saturday 22 October marks Youth Climate Action Day, a worldwide movement of young people who are concerned about climate change and global injustice. A popular service has returned to Swansea city centre to help local householders through the cost of living crisis. The Switched On energy awareness hub has opened in High Street to offer free advice and guidance on keeping fuel bills as low as possible. The service, funded by Swansea Council and operated by Environment Centre Swansea, first operated in nearby Nelson Street in the first half of this year. Macmillan Cancer Support is warning that Wales’ performance in delivering life-saving cancer treatments on time is now at its worst since records began. The charity warns that the stark reality is that around 800 cancer patients a month are being left to face heart-breaking delays, making a fiction of Wales’ ambitions to treat 80% of people on time by 2026. Cardiff will soon see even more electric buses operating across the city thanks to a £8m grant designed to get cleaner vehicles on our streets. Cardiff Council’s Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday, 20thOctober, has approved a scheme which will allow bus operators to bid for Welsh Government funds to help increase the number of electric buses operating in Cardiff.
