RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal to the people of Prestatyn for information after concerns of multiple gull shootings in the same area.  Three gulls have been found shot dead in the area of Marion Road, with the incidents spread out across late April and early May. An RSPCA officer responded to the most recent incident on 3 May – with an examination of the gull’s dead body sadly confirming pellet gun injuries to the neck. A former headteacher who won a Pride of Britain Award for her services to teaching has been doing a weekly video blog designed to help parents and children grappling with home schooling during the Coronavirus lockdown. A mild winter and weeks of continuous sunshine have resulted in a good year for apple blossom, according to the National Trust. Temperatures of up to 24 degrees centigrade, little rain and a record amount of sunshine in April have helped the development of a heavy bloom, boosting the possibility of a fruitful harvest this autumn. A care home owner has described the anguish of staff after four residents died from suspected Covid-19 and how he’s spent an extra £100,000 trying to protect his homes since the pandemic started. Mark Bailey, the managing director of Fairways Care said the outbreak was inflicting a massive “emotional toll” and he fears the huge financial pressures caused by the coronavirus crisis will force many of the smaller care providers out of business.
