Welsh homebuilder Llanmoor Homes has announced a phased return to construction on its sites across South Wales. Swansea nursing students say they are proud to be able to face the challenge of joining the NHS during the pandemic. More than 700 nursing students from Swansea University opted to take on clinical roles and have begun caring for Welsh patients this week. Leading cancer researchers from across Wales are set to take on a series of mammoth challenges to raise money for charities impacted by the coronavirus crisis. Led by Dr Alan Parker and his colleagues at Cardiff University, the ‘baton4cancer’ initiative will see Dr Parker and his team attempt to run 1,000 miles in May before handing over a virtual ‘baton’ to other cancer research groups to take on their own fundraising effort. South Wales Police can now confirm the name of the man who died in a collision in Landore on Friday (May 1). Dean Workman, 46, was the driver of a blue Toyota C-HR when it collided with a stationary white Iveco lorry on Neath Road. He was from the Cymmer area of Port Talbot and is survived by his mother Norma and his three boys, Scott, Tyrese and Adam whom he loved dearly. Police are investigating following a serious assault in the Canton area of Cardiff on Saturday afternoon (2 May, 2020). Officers were called to Ivy Street just after 3pm following reports of a disturbance involving a group of people. One man, 35, sustained non-life threatening puncture injuries and is in the University Hospital of Wales in a stable condition. Two men, aged 37 and 32, and a 32 year-old woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody. A police cordon was set up in Ivy Street and an investigation into the incident is underway.…

With digital school lessons, plus more parents and carers working from home, the Welsh Government has issued guidance to staying safe online. Construction of the new Maesyffynnon Extra Care facility in Aberaman is now complete, and has today been handed over to the Council.  The Club Street building has been delivered via a partnership between Linc Cymru and the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council – creating 40-state-of-the-art apartments for older people on the old Maesyffynnon Residential Care Home site. An extra £248,000 will be available to local authorities across Wales to help strengthen their cyber resilience in response to the coronavirus crisis, Finance Minister Rebecca Evans has today. To help to maintain high standards of cyber security during this particularly challenging time, the Welsh Government has brought forward its cyber funding plans to support our local authorities.
