A court has ordered that a Cardiff woman must never keep animals again after she breached a ten-year ban for keeping guinea pigs amid piled-up filth in a ‘squalid’ bedroom. Barbara Herbert, of Beverley Close in the Llanishen/Lisvane area of the city, initially came to the attention of the RSPCA after guinea pigs were found to be kept in entirely inappropriate conditions in the upstairs bedroom, amid a foot-and-a-half of piled-up straw and debris, which took a whole day to dig out. Bookings opened this month for next year’s Montgomery Canal Triathlon to be held on Saturday 2nd May 2020 and places are already being filled. The Triathlon is established as a popular and family-friendly event which brings people from across the country each year. Entrants can join one, two or three sections, cycling 17 miles from Newtown to Pool Quay near Welshpool, continuing on foot for eleven miles to Morton south of Oswestry, finally canoeing for seven miles to the finish below Frankton Locks. RCT Council has organised temporary bus arrangements this weekend due to Welsh Water work in Aberdare, which requires a road closure at Monk Street.  Welsh Water will close a section of Monk Street, between its junctions with Jenkin Street and Griffiths Street, in order to undertake essential repairs to a water main. The road closure will be in effect from 10.30pm on Saturday, November 16, to 6pm on Sunday, November 17 – or until work is complete.
